Florida had the most players featured with 16 topped by Armondo Blount, DJ Pickett, Winston Watkins Jr.

The initial player rankings for the Class of 2025 were released by 247Sports and David Sanders of Providence Day (Charlotte, N.C.) was named the No. 1 recruit. He was selected to the preseason MaxPreps sophomore All-America first team. The 6-foot-6, 255-pound offensive tackle has landed 20-plus offers that includes the likes of Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Penn State and Tennessee.

Sanders was one of 33 preseason MaxPreps sophomore All-Americans to make the cut.

Last year's MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year — Bryce Underwood — is the top-rated quarterback. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder from Belleville (Mich.) threw for 2,888 yards and 39 touchdowns while leading the Tigers to their first state title. They beat Adams 55-33 in the Division 1 championship.

Florida had the most players included with 16 followed by California (14), Texas (13), Georgia (10), Alabama (7) and Louisiana (5).

In total, 25 different states had at least one player on the list.

Fifteen of the 100 selections play for teams in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings, led by Dakorien Moore of Duncanville (Texas). He is the top-rated player in Texas and eighth-rated overall. The Panthers are ranked at No. 15 and open against South Oak Cliff (Dallas) on Aug. 27 on ESPN2.

No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) has two players on the initial list in Jordon Davison and Nasir Wyatt. Davison checks in as the third-rated running back and Wyatt is the No. 4 edge rusher.

No. 3 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) had one player featured in 6-3, 320-pound offensive lineman Jayvon McFadden. The former St. John's (Washington, DC) standout was a 2021 MaxPreps Freshman All-American.

No. 4 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) had the most players featured with three in Winston Watkins Jr., Donovan Johnson and Gavin Nix. Watkins is the younger cousin of the Green Bay Packers Sammy Watkins and was a first team selection on the preseason MaxPreps Sophomore All-America squad.

The sixth-ranked Gaels had two players included and will both be key factors in the trenches for Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) on Friday night vs. Mater Dei in our MaxPreps Game of the Week. Douglas Utu and Seuseu Alofaituli were the only players from Nevada included in the top 100.

Jadon Perlotte and Devin Williams were chosen from No. 10 Buford (Ga.) and No. 11 North Shore (Houston) had two players featured as well in Deion Deblanc and Devin Sanchez.

Chris Ewald of No. 13 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) and Ezekiel Marcelin of No. 14 Central (Miami) were both selected and should have big roles this season as sophomores for two of the premier programs in Florida.
