The Legacy Charter Eagles will head out to take on the Lake Mary Prep Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Legacy Charter and Geneva had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Legacy Charter fell just short of Geneva by a score of 9-8 on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.
Jake Threadgill put in work no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, James Hodge made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Kevin Barnard also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Lake Mary Prep waltzed into their game last Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 10-4 margin over the Panthers. That's two games straight that the Griffins have won by exactly six runs.
Like Legacy Charter, Lake Mary Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Landon Trauger. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Trauger is becoming a predictor of Lake Mary Prep's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Trauger was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Roicki, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ty Ogden, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
The victory got Lake Mary Prep back to even at 5-5. As for Legacy Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Everything went Legacy Charter's way against Lake Mary Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Legacy Charter made off with a 12-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Legacy Charter since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
