Basketball Recap: Cypress Bay Takes a Loss

Cypress Bay lost against Western back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cypress Bay Lightning were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Western Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 25th).

Cypress Bay has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Western, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.

Cypress Bay will take on Plantation in a tournament on Saturday. One thing working in Plantation's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches. Western has already played their next game (against Southridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
