Lincoln is a perfect 5-0 against Crawford since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Colts at 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Lincoln didn't have quite enough to beat Christian and fell 3-2. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Lincoln sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-11.
If Hoover wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Crawford, they should've done a better job of containing John Brown. The Colts were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Cardinals on Tuesday thanks in part to Brown, who had 14 digs and one assist. He has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times he's played.
One reason for the win was Crawford's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 25-18.
Lincoln's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-9. As for Crawford, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Lincoln was able to grind out a solid win over Crawford in their previous meeting on April 8th, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
