Volleyball Recap: Ceres Comes Up Short

After flying high against Johansen on Monday, Ceres came back down to earth. The Bulldogs lost 3-0 to the Lathrop Spartans on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost nine in a row.

Ceres was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Lathrop work for it, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-11, 26-24.

Jorge Reyes was the offensive standout of the game as he had 36 assists. That's the most assists he has posted over his last five contests.

Ceres' loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Lathrop, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ceres is set to challenge their familiar foe Pacheco at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lathrop will square off against rival Johansen at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
