Soccer Recap: Metamora Comes Up Short

Metamora lost against Richwoods back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Redbirds fell 3-1 to the Knights. While losing is never fun, Metamora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Richwoods are ranked 28th).

This is the second loss in a row for Metamora and nudges their season record down to 2-4-1. As for Richwoods, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1-1.

Coming up, Metamora will square off against Morton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Morton's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Metamora's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Richwoods, they will take on Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Washington will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more goals each matchup than the last.
