Softball Recap: Santa Fe Indian's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Santa Fe Indian waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Newcomb Skyhawks with a sharp 16-1 victory. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Layla Saracino looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hailey Patricio, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leneya Gachupin, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Santa Fe Indian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Santa Fe Indian's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Newcomb, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, Santa Fe Indian will be playing at home against St. Michael's at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Braves have won ten straight at home dating back to last season, while the Horsemen won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Newcomb, they will face off against Navajo Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
