Basketball Game Preview: Cimarron Bluejays vs. Scott Beavers

Cimarron hasn't had much luck against Scott recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cimarron Bluejays will face off against the Scott Beavers at 7:00 p.m.

Cimarron is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Monday. They fell 51-42 to Hugoton. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Eagles are ranked 94th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Trent Briggs, who posted seven points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trace Kopper, who put up 11 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Scott had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They beat the Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 55-45.

Scott's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points over those games. As for Cimarron, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.

Cimarron suffered a grim 53-28 defeat to Scott in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Scott's Jackson Rumford, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds.
