Softball Recap: Marathon Has No Trouble Against Coral Shores

Marathon lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Coral Shores, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. Marathon was the clear victor by a 24-14 margin over Coral Shores on Friday. The Dolphins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Elena Eubank, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaina Robinson, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-4.

Marathon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher in four consecutive games.

Marathon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. Coral Shores is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Marathon is taking a road trip to face off against Ransom Everglades at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Coral Shores, they will host Schoolhouse Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
