Volleyball Recap: Vernon Yellowjackets vs. Sneads Pirates
Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Sneads Pirates. The Yellowjackets were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
While Vernon was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Sneads' winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-12, 25-19.
Sneads got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shaleigh Harrell out in front who had 12 digs and six aces. Harrell is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played. LaRay Gibbs was another key player, getting 11 digs and five aces.
Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sneads, their record is now 3-1.
Looking ahead, Vernon will host Bethlehem at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sneads, they will venture away from home to face off against North Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
