Softball Recap: Wooster Generals vs. Buckeye Bucks
Wooster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Buckeye Bucks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bucks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-4 on Saturday.
Sydney McAfoos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Kennedy Russell and Kara Cannon stepped up to the plate in a big way. Russell scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Cannon scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Russell also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Wooster's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. Buckeye has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Coming up, Wooster will square off against Loudonville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Buckeye, they will take on Elyria Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
