The Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies will venture away from home to challenge the Wawasee Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Plymouth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Plymouth will bounce into Friday's game after beating Goshen, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pilgrims/Rockies were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the RedHawks on Wednesday.
Preston Wolfe made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs. Plymouth is 5-1 when Wolfe posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ben Shively was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Nick Manzuk was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Plymouth hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goshen struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Wawasee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Triton. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since May 25, 2024.
Wawasee also got a good showing from Garrett Tittle, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero earned runs gave Tittle a new career-low.
On the hitting side, Wawasee saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Mack, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Plymouth has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Wawasee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-17.
Plymouth took their victory against Wawasee in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pilgrims/Rockies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
