Preview: Putnam Clippers vs. Plainfield Panthers
The Putnam Clippers will head out on the road to take on the Plainfield Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Putnam focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
Putnam suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-47 walloping at the hands of Stonington.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Evan Mailloux, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Aysaiah Chavez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Plainfield came up short against Montville on Saturday and fell 62-52.
Putnam now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Plainfield, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Putnam didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Plainfield in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 50-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Putnam since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
