Basketball Recap: King's Christian Comes Up Short

If King's Christian was feeling good fresh off their 65-33 takedown of Gloucester County Christian last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The King's Christian Knights fell just short of the Atlantic Christian Cougars by a score of 60-58 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the defeat, King's Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cam Homer posted 23 points. Homer's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Atkins, who earned 12 points.

Atlantic Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Stokes, who had 21 points and four blocks. Stokes has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Charlie Costello, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

King's Christian's loss dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Atlantic Christian, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-10.

King's Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Atlantic Christian, they will face off against Varsity Opponent at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
