Softball Recap: Pasco Pirates vs. Belleview Rattlers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pasco can now relate to. They fell 10-5 to the Belleview Rattlers on Tuesday. Pasco was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Belleview apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Abi Grubbs put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Grubbs has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Grubbs was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

In other batting news, Chloe Lee and Madison Petty did some serious damage despite the final result: Lee scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Petty scored a run while going 2-for-4. Cat Durden was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.

Even though they lost, Pasco didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with nine strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belleview only tossed four.

On Belleview's side, they got a massive performance out of Jordan McLaughlin, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiera Evans, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Pasco has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Belleview, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-11.

Pasco does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Belleview, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-5 loss vs. Lecanto on the 2nd.
