Baseball Recap: Western Boone Comes Up Short

Western Boone extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 11-10. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Frankfort Hot Dogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Stars have suffered since April 10, 2025.

Layton Yancey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Mason Foster was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.

As for Frankfort, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.

On Frankfort's side, they let Taran Emery and Angel Lopez run wild. Emery went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Lopez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Lopez has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Chino Valdes-Mejia, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

While Western Boone had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
