Baseball Recap: Wilmington Takes a Loss

Wilmington dropped their record down to 8-9 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Greenville Trojans, falling 17-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Greyhounds have suffered since April 4th.

Wilmington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayden Wygant, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

As for Greenville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Greenville's side, they got a massive performance out of Justin Schell, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Schell has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Csonka, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilmington will take on Reynolds at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.29 runs per game on average), something the Greyhounds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenville, they will challenge Sharpsville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
