Baseball Recap: Coolidge Drops Season-High Score on Woodson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coolidge). Everything went their way against the Woodson Warriors on Monday as they made off with a 13-7 win. The Colts have beaten the Warriors the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.

Rodrigo Cabrera-Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits. Cabrera-Garcia was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Jose Leiva was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Fransisco Leiva was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coolidge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Coolidge picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-10. As for Woodson, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coolidge will welcome Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.2 runs per game on average), something the Colts will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Woodson, they will be playing at home against Bell at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th.
