Basketball Recap: Caroline Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Life Camp over St. Mary's

New Life Camp was the 63-43 winner over St. Mary when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The New Life Camp Storm fell 52-42 to the St. Mary's Saints on Tuesday. The Storm have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

New Life Camp lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Caroline Brown, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Hannah Edwards was another key player, putting up 14 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, New Life Camp smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

St. Mary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Janelle Gyampo led the charge by earning eight points in addition to 14 rebounds and five blocks. Another player making a difference was Molly Sather, who posted 12 points.

New Life Camp now has a losing record at 7-8. As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

New Life Camp has already played their next match, a 38-20 victory against Wake Christian Academy on the 6th. As for St. Mary's, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-31 defeat against Ravenscroft on the 5th.
