Softball Game Preview: Fife Trojans vs. Chief Sealth Seahawks

The Fife Trojans are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against the Chief Sealth Seahawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Fife will be strutting in after a win while Chief Sealth will be coming in after a loss.

Fife is headed out to face Chief Sealth after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Fife came out on top in a nail-biter against White River on Friday, sneaking past 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since April 25, 2024.

Mallory Geving made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kaitlin Christiansen and Mallory Robson did most of the damage at the plate: Christiansen scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Robson went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Ashlynn Monroe was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Fife hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White River struck out 11 times.

Meanwhile, Chief Sealth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-0 to Non Varsity Opponent. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Seahawks were not able to get on the board.
