Baseball Recap: Spooner Beats Ellsworth for Their Third Straight Victory

Spooner waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Ellsworth Panthers by a score of 7-3. The Rails have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Evan Potaczek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Spooner let Ben Eichten and Jarrett Meier run wild. Eichten went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Meier scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Meier also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Spooner's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Ellsworth, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Spooner will square off against Northwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ellsworth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Altoona at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
