Basketball Recap: Clovis Takes a Loss

Clovis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 71-56 bruising from the Central Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 127th).

Na'Jae Stevenson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Central, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Those 27 points gave Stevenson a new career-high. Isaac Richardson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Clovis' loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Central, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8.

Clovis will head out on the road to face off against Buchanan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Buchanan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Central, they will welcome Clovis West at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clovis West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.2 points per game this season.
