Soccer Game Preview: Ben Lippen vs. Cardinal Newman

Ben Lippen is 0-10 against Cardinal Newman since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Falcons will head out to face off against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ben Lippen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Camden Military a 3-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for Ben Lippen as they're now sitting on five straight.

Takumi Nakazawa and Davis Whitaker scored all three of Ben Lippen's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 35 goals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cardinal Newman took on Augusta Christian last Monday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Lions. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Cardinal Newman's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 19th in South Carolina, while Augusta Christian are ranked 144th in Georgia).

Ben Lippen's record now sits at 14-5. As for Cardinal Newman, their record is now 14-6-1.

Ben Lippen suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Cardinal Newman when the teams last played back in April. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
