Volleyball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin managed to slip by Henryville the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles came up short against the Hornets on Thursday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Hornets since October 3, 2019.

Austin was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Henryville work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-15, 25-21.

Maggie Mosley paced Austin's offense, picking up ten kills. Mosley got some help from Jayleigh Schepman and her 19 assists. Mosley was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Lylia Martin was a one-woman wrecking crew For Henryville. as she had three digs and three aces. That's the most aces Martin has posted over her last five matches. Ella Logsdon was another key player, getting 11 kills and one block.

Austin is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16. As for Henryville, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8.

Coming up, Austin will host Scottsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Henryville, they are taking a road trip to face off against Crawford County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
