Baseball Recap: Naples Gets the Win

Naples hadn't done well against Red Jacket recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Big Green Machines walked away with a 5-2 victory over Red Jacket. For the Big Green Machines, this counts as revenge for the 9-3 win Red Jacket walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Rowan Biggs, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Naples: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise. Theron VanZandt also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The victory got Naples back to even at 4-4. As for Red Jacket, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Naples will venture away from home to face off against Keshequa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Red Jacket, they will head out to square off against Newark at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
