Baseball Recap: East Nashville Magnet Victorious

East Nashville Magnet lost to Howard Tech back in April of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Eagles came out on top against the Hustlin' Tigers by a score of 6-2.

Alexander Griffey and Jonathan Hughes were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Griffey tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hughes pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because East Nashville Magnet is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise. At the plate, Griffey scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4, while Hughes scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Chauncey Anthony was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jayson Hazley was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

East Nashville Magnet's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Howard Tech, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Nashville Magnet beat the Hustlin' Tigers by a score of 21-0 later that day.
