Baseball Game Preview: Germantown Mavericks vs. Warren Central Vikings

The Germantown Mavericks will head out on the road to square off against the Warren Central Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Germantown managed to slip by Starkville the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Germantown lost 10-0 to Starkville on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mavericks have suffered since March 7th.

Meanwhile, Warren Central entered their tilt with Neshoba Central on Thursday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Rockets.

Beau Bradley looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Warren Central is undefeated when Bradley allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 3-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Blake Caruthers was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Warren Central pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Germantown, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Germantown couldn't quite finish off Warren Central when the teams last played back in February and fell 6-4. Can Germantown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
