Basketball Recap: San Augustine Takes a Loss

San Augustine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 49-39 to the Brookeland Wildcats. If the Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 31-28 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, San Augustine saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tamiah Clark went 6-for-15 to rack up 17 points. Kirstern Smith was another key player, putting up seven points and eight boards.

San Augustine's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Brookeland, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

San Augustine wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-55 victory against Sabine on the 31st. As for Brookeland, they will square off against Chester at 4:30 p.m. on January 9th.
