Baseball Game Preview: Penobscot Valley Howlers vs. Bangor Christian Patriots

Penobscot Valley is 2-8 against Bangor Christian since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Howlers will be playing at home against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Penobscot Valley played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Schenck. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Howlers.

The team relied heavily on Chase Osgood, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Osgood is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Dawson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Penobscot Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schenck only managed two hits.

Meanwhile, Bangor Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Central on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by just one run.

Penobscot Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Bangor Christian, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
