Recap: Fort Gibson vs. Central

Fort Gibson took an ego-bruising loss against Hilldale last week, but they kept their chin up and bounced back on Friday. Fort Gibson put the hurt on Central with a sharp 49-20 victory.

Fort Gibson's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 35 first-half points. Central wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 14 to make it 35-14 heading into the break. The Fort Gibson defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 6 and all but finishing the contest.

Junior Tavien Woodworth was the offensive standout of the match for Fort Gibson, as he rushed for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 carries. Junior Jesse Rudd also deserves a shout-out for his five TDs.

Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Fort Gibson will square off against Broken Bow at 7:30 PM next week. Those two teams have set a high bar for this game after stand-out offensive performances in their previous contests. As for Central, they will face off against Sallisaw. Neither of these teams wants a repeat from their last game since each was dealt a considerable defeat.
