Basketball Game Preview: Capital Golden Eagles vs. Mountain View Mavericks

Capital hasn't had much luck against Mountain View recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Capital Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mountain View Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. Capital knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Mountain View likes a good challenge.

Capital is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Payson, who was ranked 12th in their home state at the time (Capital was ranked tenth). Capital escaped with a win two weeks ago against Payson by the margin of a single free throw, 73-72.

Meanwhile, Mountain View beat Bishop Kelly 67-54 on Thursday.

Mountain View's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-3. As for Capital, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Capital skirted past Mountain View 74-71 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Will Capital repeat their success, or does Mountain View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
