Baseball Recap: Michigan Lutheran Beats Our Lady of the Lake Catholic for Their Third Straight Win

Michigan Lutheran waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Lakers. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ben Liebich was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Michigan Lutheran: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 9-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Micah Herbst, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Eggert, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Michigan Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Michigan Lutheran's record now sits at 18-13. As for Our Lady of the Lake Catholic, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-18.
