Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Caden Cook and Aaron Riley Lead Riverview Academy of Math and Science to Victory

On Tuesday, the Riverview Academy of Math and Science Barracudas didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Geneva Classical Academy Knights, but they still walked away with a 65-59 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Barracudas.

Riverview Academy of Math and Science was led to victory by Aaron Riley and Caden Cook. Riley went 9 for 17 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds, while Cook dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Riley has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Tayshaun Johnson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Riverview Academy of Math and Science smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Geneva Classical Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Owen Zwolinski, who went 10 of 23 on his way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Those 27 points gave Zwolinski a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Figueroa, who posted 16 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Riverview Academy of Math and Science is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Geneva Classical Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Riverview Academy of Math and Science and Geneva Classical Academy will both be playing Patel the next time they take the court. Riverview Academy of Math and Science will head out to face Patel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Geneva Classical Academy will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
