Recap: Shanksville Stonycreek Vikings vs. Blacklick Valley Vikings
After flying high against the Hyndman Charter School Hornets last Wednesday, the Shanksville Stonycreek Vikings came back down to earth. Shanksville Stonycreek fell to Blacklick Valley 48-44. Shanksville Stonycreek has struggled against Blacklick Valley recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Shanksville Stonycreek's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Musser, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and three steals. Musser is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Grant Boozer was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.
Gino DiPaolo was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with three steals for Blacklick Valley. That's the first time this season that DiPaolo scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Collin Nedrich, who scored ten points along with seven assists.
Shanksville Stonycreek's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Blacklick Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shanksville Stonycreek will take on Salisbury Elk Lick at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blacklick Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ferndale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ferndale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday.
