Softball Game Preview: Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders vs. Pocahontas County Warriors

The Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders will face off against the Pocahontas County Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Pocahontas County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Greater Beckley Christian, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Greater Beckley Christian beat Summers County 10-6. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by exactly four runs.

Allison Moten and Leah Adkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Moten didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Adkins tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Moten got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Adkins got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Heffernan, who went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Emma Wilkerson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Greater Beckley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Pocahontas County was not able to break out of their rough patch back in March as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 16-1 to Pendleton County.

The win made it two in a row for Greater Beckley Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Pocahontas County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
