Softball Preview: Henley Hornets vs. Crook County Cowboys
Henley has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Crook County Cowboys at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, everything went Henley's way against Hidden Valley as Henley made off with a 13-3 win.
Annie Campos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Campos has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Campos was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with an RBI.
In other batting news, Henley got a massive performance out of Anna Harper, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Samantha Moore, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Crook County made easy work of Madras on Thursday and carried off a 10-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Crook County.
Henley pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Crook County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season.
