Recap: Cheney RVT Beavers vs. Portland Highlanders
The Cheney RVT Beavers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 42-17 defeat at the hands of Portland. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cheney RVT in their matchups with Portland: they've now lost three in a row.
Cheney RVT's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cristialis Carrasquillo, who scored five points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ai'Lani Alvelo, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds.
Cheney RVT bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.3 points per game. As for Portland, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-9.
Cheney RVT and Goodwin Tech will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Goodwin Tech comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Portland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against East Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. East Hampton will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
