Volleyball Recap: Robertsdale Takes a Loss

Robertsdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Paul's Episcopal Saints. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Bears of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Robertsdale sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-27, 21-19.

Kendall Dougherty was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had six digs and two aces. Those two aces gave her a new career-high. Ashby Thorneycroft also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Robertsdale's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for St. Paul's Episcopal, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Robertsdale has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Daphne on the 27th. As for St. Paul's Episcopal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Spanish Fort on the 26th.
