Softball Recap: Fellowship Academy Falls Short of Nazarene Christian Academy in the Playoffs

Fellowship Academy and Nazarene Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Fellowship Academy had to settle for second. They lost 14-4 to the Lions. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Lions this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-2 defeat back in March.

Khylee Webber was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and 12 unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Webber wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taitym Rankin, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

The loss snapped Fellowship Academy's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-5 record. As for Nazarene Christian Academy, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Fellowship Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nazarene Christian Academy, they will take on First Baptist at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 16.9 runs per game this season.
