Basketball Recap: Shafter Takes a Loss

Shafter lost against Delano back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Shafter Generals were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 37-36 to the Delano Tigers. The Generals' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Delano's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Torres, who posted 17 points. That's the most points Torres has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jotham Amodo, who had 14 points.

Shafter's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Delano, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shafter will take on Chavez at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Chavez will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Shafter surely won't give up without a fight. As for Delano, they will challenge Wasco at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Delano is facing Wasco at the right time seeing as Wasco is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
