Softball Recap: Monticello Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Monticello put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hampton Bulldogs a 15-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Billies considering their two-run performance the game before.

Rhyse Guthrie looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Libby Kingston was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Addi Frazer was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Monticello's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Hampton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Monticello will venture away from home to challenge Woodlawn at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hampton, they will square off against Fordyce at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
