Football Recap: Burkburnett Comes Up Short

Burkburnett extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They received a blow as they fell 38-23 to the Eagle Mountain Knights. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 754th, while the Knights are ranked 302nd).

As for Eagle Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.6 points over those games.

Eagle Mountain had a senior duo take command as TERRY STARKS rushed for 183 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.6 yards per carry and BRYCEN VINDIOLA rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Those 118 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for VINDIOLA.

Coming up, Burkburnett will face off against Brock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Eagle Mountain, they will challenge Bridgeport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will be up against the Bulls' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
