Baseball Recap: Marist Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Marist, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Saint Viator Lions with a sharp 8-0 victory on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the RedHawks: when they faced off against the Lions on Thursday, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

JP Gainer looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on John McAuliffe, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Emmitt Senger also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Marist's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Viator, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
