Basketball Game Preview: Littleton Lions vs. Heritage Eagles

Littleton is on a three-game streak of home losses, Heritage a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Saturday. The Littleton Lions will welcome the Heritage Eagles at 1:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Littleton challenged Evergreen on Thursday. Littleton lost 52-32 to Evergreen. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered against the Cougars since January 15, 2020.

Littleton's defeat came about despite a quality game from Emma Bird, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Bird is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Vicky Whitney, who posted six points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage). They put the hurt on Ponderosa with a sharp 65-40 victory on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-18.

Heritage's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 5-15. As for Littleton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Littleton took their victory against Heritage in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 64-42. Does Littleton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Heritage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
