Recap: Webb Spartans vs. Evangelical Christian Eagles
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Webb Spartans walked away with it. They breezed by Evangelical Christian at home to the tune of 34-7. Webb might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Despite the loss, Evangelical Christian had strong showings from Max Stegall, who picked up 137 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Nick Owens, who rushed for 77 yards. Stegall's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards.
Webb's win was their seventh straight at home , which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.6 points per game. As for Evangelical Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Webb will challenge Franklin Road Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Franklin Road Academy is ranked 37th, while Webb is ranked 41st). Evangelical Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
