Recap: North Kingstown Skippers vs. South Kingstown Rebels
On Thursday, the North Kingstown Skippers faced the South Kingstown Rebels in a battle between two of the state's top teams. North Kingstown enjoyed a cozy 32-14 victory over South Kingstown. The win was just what North Kingstown needed coming off of a 35-7 defeat in their prior contest.
Victor Encarnacion was on fire: he rushed for 239 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Encarnacion has been hot recently, having posted six or more solo tackles the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trent Sterner, who picked up 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the defeat, South Kingstown saw an underclassman step up: Dante Peno rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
North Kingstown pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.2 points per game. As for South Kingstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
North Kingstown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. South Kingstown also has no future games currently scheduled.
