Basketball Recap: Monacan Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Monacan couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Henrico Warriors by a score of 72-70 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (60), the Chiefs still had to take the loss.

Monacan lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lila Donnelly, who went 12-for-30 to rack up 30 points and seven rebounds. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Trinity Jones was another key player, shooting 62% from the field on her way to 19 points along with six boards and five assists.

Monacan's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-7. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.3 points on average over those games. As for Henrico, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Monacan nor Henrico have any future games scheduled.
