Softball Recap: Frontier Has No Trouble Against Valley

Frontier won the last time they faced Valley and things went their way on Friday too. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Lumberjacks. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kaycee Berentz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Grayson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiera Wolfe, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Frontier and bumps their season record up to 14-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Valley, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Frontier will host Belpre at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Paden City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lumberjacks are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
