The Roane County Yellowjackets will challenge the Heritage Mountaineers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Roane County 1.1, Heritage 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Monday, Roane County earned a 4-1 victory over Tellico Plains. The win continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.

Sailor Presley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Presley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Branham, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Heritage put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for South-Doyle. The Mountaineers put the hurt on the Cherokees with a sharp 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mountaineers, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Roane County, Heritage also got a great game from a two-way player: Katelyn Russell. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Russell was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Autumn Brooke Perrin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Carly Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South-Doyle only posted an OBP of .125.
Heritage has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Roane County, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Roane County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Roane County skirted past Heritage 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Mountaineers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
