Basketball Game Preview: Brandon Academy Scorpions vs. American Youth Academy Eagles

The Brandon Academy Scorpions will take on the American Youth Academy Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Brandon Academy will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Brandon Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Pepin Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 92-30 win. The Scorpions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brandon Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aaron Miller-Holmes, who went 7 for 8 en route to 18 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Miller-Holmes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nigel Pinnock, who made all 6 shots he took for 14 points along with five assists and three steals.

Miller-Holmes wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Brandon Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 74 points the game before, American Youth Academy was a bit more limited in their matchup last Wednesday. They took a blow against Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, falling 60-23. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Brandon Academy's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.7 points. As for American Youth Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Brandon Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against American Youth Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, sneaking past 49-46. Will Brandon Academy repeat their success, or does American Youth Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
